Having been a part of the Rice campus in one form or another for 15 years, Rice Program Council remains essential in providing students with opportunities for campus-wide bonding and entertainment.
RPC’s goal is to provide the Rice undergraduate community with numerous campus-wide social events throughout the year. While RPC is most known for our formal dance in the fall semester, Esperanza, our most popular event by far is Beer Bike.
Traditionally, our major fall events include: Screw-Yer-Roommate, Homecoming events, Esperanza, and the President’s Fall Study Break. Our spring events include: Crush Party, Rondelet, Assassins/H2O07, Willy Week and Beer Bike.
RPC is not only responsible for social events on campus, but our Passport to Houston Committee also provides subsidized tickets to various events around Houston to the Rice community. These include “Rice Nights” at the Houston Ballet, Symphony, Theatre, and Opera. In conjunction with the Rice Passport program, we usually subsidize ten events each semester. Other regular events include the Renaissance Fair and the Houston Rodeo.
In order to make these events happen, Rice Program consists of Rice students from all years and many majors. Without these incredible students, RPC would not be able to hold all of the amazing events it does every year. Below is an organizational chart that gives a better picture of how RPC is structured:
